I just received this today and started reading. As with everything else Claire writes it is thoroughly researched. Each monarch gets a single page bio and though short is very informative. The Victorian etchings are wonderful and being colorized really come to life. If you are at all an Anglophile as I myself am you will enjoy this immensely.Product details

Illustrated Kings and Queens of England eBook Claire Ridgway Tim Ridgway Verity Ridgway Reviews
Once more, Claire Ridgway presents the reader with a wonderful source of information, and this time in a concise form on the lives of ALL the kings and queens in English history. It gives the reader a taster of their lives and reigns, providing you with a wonderful overview of all the highlights of every British monarch from King Alfred the Great to Queen Elizabeth II. Each of the 59 monarchs in the book covers two pages, one with a summary of important dates, interesting facts and a short biography, and the other with a beautifully restored vintage etching. Bright colours were professionally added to antique engravings from John Cassell’s “Illustrated History of England” by Claire’s husband Tim and daughter Verity Ridgway.
This book will be a great addition to any history collection, it’s the perfect coffee-table book and I highly recommend this beautiful book to every history buff.
Claire has a fantastic knowledge on British history, as well as, her husband Tim, so why not her daughter also. I have read all of Claire's books and all are so very well done. You think you know all there is to know about the British Monarchy and then Claire teaches the reader even more. I highly recommend this book and all of Claire's books. Job well done once again Claire.
as an Anglophile, this book is right up my alley!!!!
For an American like me, this book is a good reference on the kings and queens of England. The information is interesting but not overwhelming; I got a good overview of many people I knew little or nothing about. If you want a few quick facts, this is a good place to start. I enjoyed the illustrations also. I read this on my Fire, so I got to experience the color. I am sure that the actual book would be even more enjoyable.
Very interesting book.
This is an excellent reference book, with comprehensive mini-biographies of each English monarch, right back to when their names were unpronounceable. Easy to navigate, it will prove a great quick reference guide for anyone who enjoys reading historical fiction, such as Alison Weir or Philippa Gregory.
I am enjoying browsing through it for myself, and my 8-year old son, who is currently fascinated by kings and knights and battles, is also reading it, although he finds the vocabulary a little challenging.
Great book, pictures are terrific and great information. Just what I expected from Claire.
